Ribbon Campaigns

Black Ribbon Campaigns (link no longer working - http://pubweb.acns.nwu.edu/~dtn307/black.html) to illustrate that what people value most about the Internet comes from its anarchistic character: the free exchange of information and ideas among people around the world, without the intervention of a governing body for a low-cost link from New Zealand (no longer working - http://kumera.mit.edu/pww/allblack.html) to the rest of the internet.

Blue Ribbon Campaign

The Pink ribbon is to raise awareness on breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness month was celebrated in October with a pink ribbon campaign designed to create awareness for this prevalent disease.

Purple Ribbon Campaigns (link no longer working - http://cfn.cs.dal.ca/cfn/CommunitySupport/Men4Change/qa.html)
to remember the fourteen women who died in Montreal on December 6, 1989;
to remember all women who have died violently and the many thousands who continue to live with abuse;
to raise awareness of the pervasiveness of violence against women;
to raise funds to continue work against violence against women.
another Purple Ribbon Campaign was born when the Hunger was recognized. Several compassionate humans felt the need to do something for their suffering fellow beings, undead or alive. What started with merely a few individuals soon grew into a movement of some strength. New blood is, however, always welcome.

Red Ribbon Campaigns (link no longer working - http://planetq.com/aidsvl/index.html)
red ribbons show our support for research to cure AIDS and our efforts to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS with education and information.

White Ribbon Campaigns (link no longer working - http://www.neosoft.com/~acoustic/wwwribcmpn.html#anchor284803)
white ribbons have been worn in remembrance of the innocent victims of terrorists. The Oklahoma City Bombing, the Saudi Arabia bombing, and the latest being possibly the crash of TWA Flight 800. The people of Montoursville, PA have been wearing blue and gold ribbons, the school colors of the students who were killed in this crash.
The White Ribbon Campaign was organized to acknowledge the "Montreal Massacre" of 1989 when 14 women were murdered by Marc Lepine at the University of Montreal. The purpose of the campaign: to have men show their support for ending violence against women. The White Ribbon Campaign is aimed at supporting a cease-fire in Northern Ireland. The organization also uses the symbol of the white dove for this cause.
